BYOD Rules and Regulations
Everyone has a smart phone these days. Agency employees are no different. Mobile technology like smart phones and tablets combined with new software now allow DSPs to do their work on the go, from tracking attendance for payroll and billing, capturing documentation, requesting PTO, submitting mileage claims, checking schedules, payroll, W-2s, receiving automated workforce management alerts, and managing EHR.
The new EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) regulations of the 21st Century Cures Act and in some states, state EVV mandates, is making BYOD even more topical.
Most agencies use BYOD but many are not aware of the liabilities and risks.
BYOD has seen a boost in popularity as providers aim to increase productivity without having to supply a device to every employee. However, if not implemented properly, the liabilities to a BYOD program can outweigh these benefits.
